One of my earliest data graphics for my blog, I wanted to incorporate into one graph, economic and world events that would have affected the U.S. economy, making the assumption that the average income is also affected by these events. I am graphing income that includes capital gains as well as income that does not include capital gains. The average income data can be found at the World Top Incomes Database while the recessions are defined by the National Bureau of Economic Research.
